Korntex Triple Norm Vest – flame retardant, antistatic high-visibility safety vest as per EN ISO 20471
The Korntex Triple Norm Vest combines three key safety standards in a professional high-visibility safety vest ideal for workplaces with special safety requirements. It offers high visibility, flame retardant properties and antistatic protection making it the perfect choice for industry, energy supply, petrochemicals, utilities, maintenance, plant construction and many other areas.
For maximum visibility, the Hi-Vis vest features two 5 cm wide reflective stripes running around the body plus two additional stripes over the shoulders. This ensures excellent 360-degree visibility by day, dusk and poor light.
Made from 100% polyester, the Triple Norm Vest offers a comfortable feel, high durability, and freedom of movement. Thanks to two practical Velcro fasteners it can be quickly put on or taken off and adjusted individually.
With sizes from S to 5XL , the vest fits various body sizes comfortably and can be worn easily over work clothes.

EN ISO 20471 – High-visibility warning clothing
EN ISO 20471 is the Europe-wide standard for high-visibility warning clothing. It ensures that people can be recognised early in daylight, at dusk and in darkness. High-visibility clothing reduces the risk of accidents and is important wherever employees work near vehicles, machinery or other hazards.
The standard defines requirements for the fluorescent background material, the reflective strips and their arrangement and minimum surface area. Only products that meet these requirements may be certified to EN ISO 20471.
The standard distinguishes between three high-visibility classes:
- Class 1: For work areas with low risk potential and low traffic speeds, for example on company premises or in warehouse areas.
- Class 2: For medium-risk areas such as construction sites, logistics, waste management, industry, municipal services or work on roads with normal traffic volumes.
- Class 3: For work areas with high risk potential, for example road and motorway construction, rail environments, airports or work near fast-moving traffic. This class provides the highest level of visibility.
High-visibility clothing complying with EN ISO 20471 is used by construction companies, road maintenance services, logistics and transport companies, industrial and production facilities, emergency services, municipalities, and energy and waste-management companies, among others. In many sectors, wearing certified high-visibility clothing is required by law or forms part of company safety regulations.
The required high-visibility class always depends on the risk assessment for the specific workplace and the applicable legal and company requirements. Choosing the correct high-visibility clothing is essential for improving visibility and safety in everyday work.
EN ISO 14116 – Protective clothing with limited flame spread
EN ISO 14116 is the international standard for protective clothing with limited flame spread. It specifies requirements for materials and garments designed to limit brief contact with small flames and help prevent fire from spreading further on the clothing.
The standard assesses how the material behaves after brief flame exposure. The aim is to reduce the risk of burns by ensuring that, once the ignition source is removed, the clothing does not continue to burn or does so only to a very limited extent. Depending on the level of protection, materials and garments are classified into different performance indices.
Protective clothing complying with EN ISO 14116 is suitable for work areas where occasional contact with small flames or sparks is possible, for example in industry, welding and maintenance, energy supply or technical service. However, it is not intended for applications involving high heat exposure or direct contact with flames. More advanced standards such as EN ISO 11612 are required for such applications.
When choosing a product, look for valid EN ISO 14116 certification and make sure the protective clothing meets the requirements of your intended use. Only correctly worn, undamaged protective clothing provides the intended protection.
EN 1149 – Antistatic protective clothing
EN 1149 is the European standard for antistatic protective clothing. It specifies requirements for clothing designed to reduce the build-up and dissipation of electrostatic charge. This reduces the risk of sparks that could cause fires or explosions in potentially explosive atmospheres.
The standard evaluates the electrostatic properties of materials and ensures that electrical charges can dissipate in a controlled manner. Antistatic protective clothing is often used in combination with other protective standards and must be worn together with suitable conductive protective clothing and appropriate footwear to achieve its full protective effect.
Protective clothing complying with EN 1149 is particularly suitable for use in the chemical and petrochemical industries, refineries, the oil and gas industry, paint shops, the pharmaceutical industry and other areas with potentially explosive atmospheres (ATEX zones).
When choosing a product, look for valid EN 1149 certification and make sure the protective clothing meets the requirements of your intended use. Only correctly worn, undamaged antistatic protective clothing provides the intended protection against electrostatic discharge.
