Korntex Hi-Vis lightweight rain jacket – waterproof warning jacket according to EN ISO 20471 & EN 343
The Korntex Hi-Vis lightweight rain jacket provides reliable protection against wind and rain as well as excellent visibility in poor weather and lighting conditions. The waterproof warning jacket is ideal for construction, trades, logistics, industry, transport, roadworks, municipal services and many other professional outdoor uses.
For maximum safety, the Hi-Vis rain jacket is equipped with two 5 cm wide reflective strips around the body and sleeves, plus additional reflective strips over the shoulders . Together with fluorescent signal colors, it ensures optimal all-round visibility during day, dusk and darkness.
The lightweight 100% polyester fabric, certified according to STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®, offers comfortable wear while being robust and easy to care for. The front zipper with wind flap reliably protects against wind and moisture, while the hood stowable in the collar is ready for use quickly when needed.
For tools, documents or personal items, the jacket features a chest pocket with Velcro and two side pockets with zippersthat provide ample storage space.
The Korntex Hi-Vis lightweight rain jacket is available in sizes S to 5XL and complies with EN ISO 20471 for high-visibility warning clothing and EN 343 for rain protective clothing. It also meets the RIS-3279-TOM standard and is thus suitable for railway industry use (applies to the corresponding certified color variant).

EN 343 – Protective clothing against rain and adverse weather
EN 343 is the European standard for protective clothing against rain, snow, fog and moisture. It specifies how well rain jackets, rain trousers and other weather-protective clothing protect against wet conditions while still providing comfortable wear.
The standard assesses two key properties: water resistance, which prevents water from penetrating, and breathability, which describes how effectively moisture and body heat can escape. The higher the performance values, the better the protection against rain and the more comfortable the clothing is during extended wear.
Protective clothing complying with EN 343 is suitable for outdoor work and is used in construction, road maintenance, logistics, transport, industry and municipal services, among other areas. It helps employees stay dry in bad weather and carry out their work safely.
Many rain and high-visibility jackets combine EN 343 with EN ISO 20471. This means they provide reliable protection from wind and rain while also ensuring high visibility in poor weather and low-light conditions.
EN ISO 20471 – High-visibility warning clothing
EN ISO 20471 is the Europe-wide standard for high-visibility warning clothing. It ensures that people can be recognised early in daylight, at dusk and in darkness. High-visibility clothing reduces the risk of accidents and is important wherever employees work near vehicles, machinery or other hazards.
The standard defines requirements for the fluorescent background material, the reflective strips and their arrangement and minimum surface area. Only products that meet these requirements may be certified to EN ISO 20471.
The standard distinguishes between three high-visibility classes:
- Class 1: For work areas with low risk potential and low traffic speeds, for example on company premises or in warehouse areas.
- Class 2: For medium-risk areas such as construction sites, logistics, waste management, industry, municipal services or work on roads with normal traffic volumes.
- Class 3: For work areas with high risk potential, for example road and motorway construction, rail environments, airports or work near fast-moving traffic. This class provides the highest level of visibility.
High-visibility clothing complying with EN ISO 20471 is used by construction companies, road maintenance services, logistics and transport companies, industrial and production facilities, emergency services, municipalities, and energy and waste-management companies, among others. In many sectors, wearing certified high-visibility clothing is required by law or forms part of company safety regulations.
The required high-visibility class always depends on the risk assessment for the specific workplace and the applicable legal and company requirements. Choosing the correct high-visibility clothing is essential for improving visibility and safety in everyday work.
