Children’s high-visibility vests

Children’s high-visibility vests: what should you look for when choosing?

Children’s high-visibility vests should not only be highly visible, but also comfortable and easy to wear in everyday life. We recommend considering the following points:

● Body height and fit: the vest should fit well while allowing sufficient freedom of movement.

● Easy handling: children should feel comfortable in the vest and be able to put it on and take it off easily depending on the model.

● Visibility: bright colours and reflective elements help make children easier to see.

● Everyday use: different versions may be useful depending on whether the vest is worn on the way to school, on trips or during leisure activities.

● Certification: the standard and properties of a model are listed directly on the relevant product page.

This allows the children’s vest to be selected to suit the child’s height and the actual use.

What size does a children’s high-visibility vest need?

For children’s vests, body height is more important than a general age indication. Children of the same age can differ in height, so we recommend using the measurements of the relevant model.

The vest should fit comfortably over a jumper, jacket or other clothing without restricting movement.

The available sizes and measurements are listed directly with the relevant product.

Which fastening is suitable for children’s high-visibility vests?

Easy handling when putting the vest on and taking it off is also important for children’s vests.

A hook-and-loop fastening opens and closes quickly. A zip keeps the vest closed at the front and can be practical when it is worn frequently.

The most suitable fastening depends mainly on how the vest will be used.

If you are specifically looking for a model with a zip, you will find a Children’s high-visibility vest with zip.

Visibility and EN 17353 for children’s high-visibility vests

In addition to size and fit, certification can also be important when choosing a children’s high-visibility vest.

Depending on the model, EN 17353 is particularly relevant for children’s high-visibility vests. It covers clothing with enhanced visibility for non-professional situations.

The standard met by the relevant model and its reflective or fluorescent properties are shown directly on the product page.

Children’s high-visibility vest or functional vest?

Children’s high-visibility vests and functional vests may look similar at first glance, but they do not necessarily serve the same purpose.

A children’s high-visibility vest is designed to increase visibility and may be certified accordingly depending on the model.

A Children’s functional vestis suitable, for example, for identifying and distinguishing children or groups. It is not automatically certified as high-visibility protective clothing.

The suitable version therefore depends on the intended use.

Children’s high-visibility vests for the way to school and leisure

Whether on the way to school, cycling or on trips, children’s high-visibility vests can be worn in a variety of everyday situations.

Common applications include:

● Way to school

● Walks

● Cycling

● Leisure activities

● Trips

Schools, kindergartens, groups and institutions may have other priorities, such as different sizes within a group, colours for identification or purchasing several vests.

FAQ – Frequently asked questions about children’s high-visibility vests

Which children’s high-visibility vest should I buy?

The right children’s high-visibility vest depends mainly on body height, fit, fastening and intended use. The specific sizes, versions and certifications are listed directly for each model.

What size high-visibility vest does my child need?

The child’s body height is the main criterion. The vest should fit comfortably over clothing and allow sufficient freedom of movement. We therefore recommend checking the product measurements before purchase.

From what age is a children’s high-visibility vest suitable?

A fixed age limit is less important than the right size and fit. Use the measurements provided for the specific model as your guide.

Should a children’s high-visibility vest have hook-and-loop or zip fastening?

Both versions are possible. A hook-and-loop fastening opens and closes quickly, while a zip keeps the vest closed at the front. Which version is better depends on when and how often the vest is worn.

Which standard is relevant for children’s high-visibility vests?

EN 17353 can be particularly relevant for children’s high-visibility vests. The certification of the specific model is stated on the product page.

What is the difference between a children’s high-visibility vest and a children’s functional vest?

Children’s high-visibility vests are designed for increased visibility and may be certified accordingly. Children’s functional vests are more often used to identify or distinguish people and groups and are not automatically protective clothing.

Are children’s high-visibility vests suitable for kindergarten and school?

Children’s high-visibility vests can also be used on the way to school, on trips or during kindergarten and school activities. For selecting and purchasing for whole groups, see the Kindergarten & School section.

Can children’s high-visibility vests be customised?

Depending on the product, suitable models can be individually printed, labelled or customised. More information about the options and enquiry process can be found under Customised high-visibility vests
